Are your products safe?

We don't always have control over the environmental toxins all around us. We DO have control over the products that we put on our skin! BeautyCounter provides safe products for you!
Did you know Triclosan and Triclocarban: antimicrobial pesticides toxic to the aquatic environment; may also impact human reproductive systems. Found in: liquid soap, soap bars, toothpaste.

The Never List

I really encourage you to go to BeautyCounter website to look at their Never List.
Take your favorite product that you use on a daily basis and see if any of the ingredients from the Never List are in that product. If you find any of the ingredients look what those chemicals could be doing to your body.
Here is one of the Never List ingredients that BeautyCounter does not use, but is a common ingredient in some of the products you use daily.
Ethanolamines (MEA/DEA/TEA): surfactants and pH adjuster linked to allergies, skin toxicity, hormone disruption, and inhibited fetal brain development. Found in: hair dyes, mascara, foundation, fragrances, sunscreens, dry cleaning solvents, paint, pharmaceuticals.
Does this not scare you that your favorite fragrances could be causing a hormone disruption in your body? With so many people struggling with infertility today I really started wondering about this about 5 years ago. In the infertility clinics they ask you not to wear perfumes or colognes. If they aren't ok to wear during IUI or IVF why are they are ok to wear any other time? What are they doing to our bodies?

I am so thankful for these two amazing guys in my life! The past year has been full of changes for our family. We have all had to go with the flow to figure out a new normal for us. While we have been through a lot it has brought us closer together. I am thankful for the changes the past year has brought us because in the end it was always the right thing for us. OOTD

It's a rare thing when we go out in the evening. One of my friends had a birthday party, so I went to the party while Art stayed with G. Sometimes you have to take turns who gets to go out to make sure the toddler stays on schedule!

I recently bought the leopard clutch at Old Navy for like $6. I had to grab it. I have been wanting a leopard clutch and at that price I almost bought 2.

Shirt & Jeans: Old Navy
Shoes: Nordstorms
Necklace: Etsy

Top: Lularoe
Jacket & Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Gift

My father-in-law asked me what kind of shoes I was wear? He said those look like bandage on your feet. Oh my LOL!

My Little Helper!

My little helper! I told G we need to clean up the deck. I ran in the house to grab some shoes and I came out to find him hauling the boards to the side of the house! He is always so willing to help us when we are doing projects. I love how he wants to help us! I try not to discourage him even when I know it's going to take us twice as long to help us.

And yes, my 2 year old still has a bottle. Judge away! I have no plans to take it away from him anytime soon. We do plan to potty train after the first of the year along with a bottle. lol

Favorite Mascara!

One of my favorite mascaras was Covergirl Super Size. I love how it made my eyelashes long with just a couple coats. Mascara and eyeliner are something I didn't really look into what ingredients were in them until I started with BeautyCounter. How could I post about using safe products and use products with harmful ingredients? I recently look at the ingredients of my favorite mascara and wasn't happy with what I found.
I found that there are ingredients that may alter important hormone mechanisms in our bodies, endocrine disruptor's, and cause toxic to organs.
Oh it's just a little mascara what harm can that do? It can do a lot of harm to your body. I have switched over to BeautyCounter mascara and it is AMAZING! My eyelashes haven't ever looked better!
Here is the ingredient list from the mascara: Water, Acrylates Copolymer, Glyceryl Stearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Triethanolamine, Polyethylene, Propylene Carbonate, Lecithin, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Synthetic Wax, Oleic Acid, Alcohol Denat., Benzyl Alcohol, Phenoxyethanol, Panthenol, Methylparaben, Glycerin, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Xanthan Gum, Tocopherol, Trisodium EDTA, Simethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate, Methylcellulose. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide.
Here is the Never List and what these ingredients can do to you:
Parabens (methyl-, isobutyl-, propyl- and others): a class of preservatives commonly used to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. Parabens are endocrine (or hormone) disruptors, which may alter important hormone mechanisms in our bodies. Found in: shampoo, face cleanser, body wash, body lotion, foundation.
Polyethylene glycol (PEG compounds): PEGs are widely used in cosmetics as thickeners, solvents, softeners, and moisture-carriers. Depending on manufacturing processes, PEGs may be contaminated with measurable amounts of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, which are both carcinogens. Found in: creams, sunscreen, shampoo.
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA): a chelating (binding) agent added to cosmetics to improve stability. May be toxic to organs. Found in: hair color, moisturizers.

Besides all these ingredients I really love how BeautyCounter mascara lengthens my eyelashes!

I'm wearing the lengething mascara in the picture above and the Plum Lip Sheer. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this lipstick!  It is so hydrating! My lips don't feel dried out. It has jojoba as one of it's ingredients a plant that helps deeply moisturize skin.

Finding Pa at the Disney Store

Let me just start off by saying I am not a big Disney fan. I like going to Disney World, but other than that I am not a big fan. I didn't let G have any type of Disney clothing. If someone gave him something that was fine and he could wear it. WELL! My child LOVES Disney and Elmo stuff!

He received a giftcard to the Disney store for his birthday. I took him to the store a couple weeks ago. He had a BLAST! He ran into the store, right to the back to the BIGGEST Mickey he could find, grabbed it, hugged it and hauled it all over the store. Oh dear lord! I was having issues thinking that big Mickey is going to end up coming home with us. Where in the world is this thing going to go?

All of a sudden he saw a display with Toy Story Woody dolls. He dropped the Mickey, ran towards the display yelling PA PA PA PA. Grabs it and says Pa!

Crisis averted! We could get a Woody doll instead of a HUGE Mickey!

George insisted he needed a Mickey AND Woody! I found a smaller Mickey for him. He wasn't too sure about the smaller one. We ended up with the smaller one in the end and a Woody doll.

When we got home G had to show Sammy his new Mickey! Sammy wasn't too impressed. He is waiting for the Mickey to end up on the floor, so he can chew his ears off.

Are your products safe for you?

My mom and I have had numerous conversations over the past few years why and how did I end up with cancer and MS. I really believe it was due to the food, but something in the back of my mind kept thinking nope it can't just be that. We ate pretty healthy growing up. Organic meats & veggies. We grew veggies in our garden and canned them. My mom bought a lot of stuff from a local co-op where she got organic. Raised grass fed meats.

It wasn't until I started doing research with the products I was using that I had an ah-ha moment. I don't think the reason there is so much cancer in this world is due to the fact our food is poisoned. There is a major problem with the food don't get me wrong. After more research I really feel it is due to the products we all use on a daily basis. There is no regulation on what ingredients companies are using and no testing is done.

We are using shampoos, conditioners, toothpaste, lotions, sunscreens, eye creams, soaps etc on a daily basis not really knowing what is in it. BeautyCounter tells you exactly what is in each product. They also are very transparent as to what they are using and what they aren't using and why.

Did you know they took their eyeliners and eyebrow pencils off the market for about 6 months because they were concerned with some ingredients. After numerous months of research they determined the pencils were perfectly fine and put them back on the market. What other company do you know that would do that?

Take a look into your products. Are they safe for you?

I get comments every so often that BeautyCounter products are expensive. People spend $30+ on a bottle of shampoo from a hair dresser all the time. That bottle of shampoo has harmful chemicals that could be causing possible problems for you now and down the road. I would much rather spend a little extra money on a product I know is safe. Instead of buying your daily $5 latte cut that out 3 days a week and you will have $60 a month to purchase safer products.
