Backyard Fun

Once again we worked on the back yard during the weekend.  This weekend we finished the retaining wall which will be a separate post and then we ran the plumbing for the water pump.  The plumbing was right under the deck, we had to run it under ground. Next we need to level out the dirt pile in the backyard.  We are probably half way done right now. There is an end in sight!!!!

Kendra!!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Kendra in person a couple weeks ago.  Kendra had planned to come to CA while I was going to be in NJ.  I was so disappointed we were going to miss each other. Kendra had a change of plans and came to CA earlier. Eeeekkkk!!! I was so excited to meet her.  Not only did I get to meet Kendra, but her husband Brock too. FUNNY guy!!!!

Kendra has the most amazing style in clothing & how she decorates her house. One day I want to go to raid her closet!  We had such a great time together.  She is so sweet & funny!  I am trying to convince her that they need to move to CA!!! She is a Cali girl....just doesn't realize Cali should be her home yet. =)

Wordless Wednesday

Tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes & MORE tomatoes!

Art & I picked all the ripe tomatoes on Sunday.  The plan was to pick all the tomatoes and make salsa.  I thought there was only going to be enough tomatoes this round to make salsa. A BIG Laugh right here!!! Boy was I wrong.

I made 3 quarts and 9 pints of salsa. I didn't even put a dent in the tomatoes. I should have taken another picture of the tomatoes after I made salsa. I then made 2 pots of tomato sauce. Recipes will be coming up soon. I canned 2 quarts of tomato sauce, 3 pints, sent one large bowl of sauce to the in laws, and froze 2 containers of sauce. 

We still have TONS of tomatoes that are on the vine green. Next round will be more salsa.  We eat a lot of salsa throughout the year.  I am trying to can enough, so we don't have to buy any in 2011/2012.

Weather Bucket List = Completed!

I grew up dealing with blizzards and tornado's.  Neither of them really scared me too much.  Tornado's would make me nervous unless I was in the basement. Blizzards were just another winter day in North Dakota.  As long as my dad, the cows and calves were safe blizzards didn't scare me.

I have been through a few small earthquakes in CA.  Nothing major...still HATE them!!! I can't get use to them.  Usually by the time I realize what is happening they are done.

I had planned to go to New Jersey for a get together with a bunch of friends since June.  The plan was to spend time with friends on Saturday and then on Sunday be a tourist around NYC.  Never in our wildest dreams did we think a hurricane would come to NJ. 

Hurricane Irene put a damper on our get together and half the people were unable to make it.  Even though Hurricane Irene showed her ugly face we still had a great time together!!!!

Dick's Last Resort

Art & I went to Dick's Last Resort one evening while in Vegas.  This place is CRAZEEEE!  The waitresses yell and throw things at you.  The waitress gave us peanuts.  She put down paper placemats & yelled at us to NOT put the peanut shells on the placemats.  The shells were to go in the 3rd carton.

I asked for some napkins & she picked up a pile of them & threw them at me. YOU WANT NAPKINS HERE YOU GO!

This is not my kind of place.  I do not like to be yelled at or be made to feel bad.  I would like to work there though.  The waitress yelled at someone for being on the phone, while the waitress was waiting to take their order. LOL
