3 Decades

When I started dating Art he was 37. At that time in my life that was the magic age for guys I had dated. I remember thinking why am I going to even date this guy because the others didn't want the same things in life that I did. I was in my mid 20's. I took a chance on him. I remember two conversations we had about the future. One was a phone call where he said he was ready to get married, have another child and find someone to spend the rest of his life with. The other conversation was him asking me what I wanted. Was I willing to stay in CA to take a chance on seeing what happened. These conversations were both exciting and terrifying to me all the same time.

I took that chance and stayed in CA. Now we have 2 boys and we have moved across the country. I have spent 3 decades with him - 30's, 40's and now 50's.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Post!!!!

California Tourists!

My cousins from ND visited for a week around the first part of March. We were tourists around Nor Cal for a week. We had a lot of fun taking them to places we have been and to new places we haven't even been.

G was really good! We were in the car A LOT! He happily rode along with watching the tablet very little. He really was a trooper. I packed lots of snacks, some car toys and uploaded some of his favorite shows to the tablet.

We went on some hikes. I put him on my back. He was ok being in the Ergo for a little bit. He would rather run or have us carry him for a little bit. He is getting heavy. I had to tell him if he wanted to be carried he had to go in the Ergo. That usually resulted in him saying he would walk.

I love this picture of us at the Golden Gate Bridge! It was the first time we have walked on the bridge. It was the first time we have taken G to the bridge too.

Easter Fun!

We had a lot of fun celebrating Easter this weekend. G loved dying Easter eggs! He was upset there weren't more. Each egg was dyed at least 3 times possibly 6 or 7. He even took a taste of the dye ugh!

This was right when we started. He had a blast!

Purple and green were his favorite colors. Every egg was put in blue and green even if they were yellow or orange. lol Such a silly kid.

The Easter bunny left some baskets for a cute little toddler and husband. G wasn't happy he didn't have a container of Pringles in his basket. Next year I will have to add some chips. My mom use to let us eat our Easter candy as soon as we got our baskets. I have tried to do the same with G for Easter and Christmas stockings. He ate 3 of the 5 Annie's gummy candies immediately.

Opening their baskets showing each other the loot they received!

This was the look I received when I told him that he had to eat some breakfast after his 3 packages of gummies. He had a lip sticking out for a little bit. It's hard not to laugh at him when he gets upset and folds his arms.

He was spoiled by all his grandparents this weekend. His Nana brought over this big basket. His Nonna bought him a tent and sleeping bag. He loved everything!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter Weekend!

George's New Job!

Art helped run an additional store for about 3 months. Poor guy was working 6 days a week for months. One Sunday G and I went to help him out for a few hours. I told him I could easily do data entry, filing or some type of clerical type work. Well he found a project for me - 13 pages of data entry to input! I loaded the tablet up with some shows for G to watch, packed snacks and off we went.

George helped Art put stuff away on carts.

Took some phone calls.

Drove around the warehouse.

and did some shopping.

George LOVES to go to Art's work. We were there for a few hours and we actually accomplished a lot even with a busy toddler. Thankfully Art is now just tending to his own store. He has also been short handed since before Christmas. He hired a guy who starts very soon. The long hours are hopefully coming to an end very soon!

A week in the life of George!

Scooting around Nana and Pa's house!

Swinging on the rings at gymnastics! This is his favorite thing at gymnastics! He would swing on them the entire 40 minutes if he was allowed.

Enjoying a banana lounging in the Target cart as we head to the car!

Hamming it up for the camera!

Found a comfy place to sit - on my head!

Helping clean up the mess Nana made with the poppers! As soon as Nana started popping those things he ran to get the dust buster.

Pranksters!

These two are so silly! They love to watch bloopers on YouTube, Facebook or anywhere they can find them. G refers to them as "oh no's". When people fall he will say oh no! If Art asks him do you want to watch "oh no's" he runs over to see what is happening.

The problem is both of them love to pull pranks on me. I get scared by both of them when I walk into a dark room. One of them usually jumps out yelling. Thankfully there is a flashlight on my phone, so I have been using it to avoid jumping out of my skin. Art bought a bunch of fake mice and rats. He loves to leave them around. The other day he left one under the sink. I opened the cupboard and gasp. Then I realized it was one of those stupid fake rats.

G got his little friend the other day with his fake spider. He threw it on her back as they were playing. He was cracking up laughing as she was screaming her head off.

Pranks

These are the type of things I find in the backyard when I open the curtains. Or I will find this in my closet or garage. 9 out 10 times this stupid thing scares me!

Happy Monday!

My Monday started off different than Monday's in the past. I was woken up to a soaked bed from a toddler whose diaper leaked. He was running around the room with a wet onesie, chasing after a balloon laughing hysterically. I told him we needed to change him and boy did that stop the hysterical laughing. I rangled him into clean clothes and a diaper. I had to then wash all our bedding including toddlers blanket and pillow. He saw me putting the blanket and pillow into the wash which started an epic meltdown. The screaming continued as I got the washer running and everything stuffed inside. Finally I was able to get him distracted.  We had a couple more meltdowns before I insisted we put on our shoes to head outside. I mean we have to wear this child out because the energy he is using to scream is making me crave a bottle of alcohol.

Art text me to see how my day was going. I responded with the following:

"It's Monday. Instead of dealing with crazy clients I deal with craziness at home. Woke up to a soaked bed. Epic meltdown because I washed his blanket. Lots of hysterical this morning. Now we are outside and he is happy. Lol"

My days are so much different than they were six months ago. I honestly love them. Even thought the morning started out crazy it turned into a great day. I wouldn't trade the meltdowns to go back to work for a zillion dollars. We played in the sand while we listened to Barney songs outside for an hour. What better life is there?

Toddler Mini Golf

Have you ever tried to play mini golf with a toddler?

Well it's an adventure!  George thought he was supposed to chase after the balls and put them in the hole. We all golfed a lot better with George help! He was super adorable! I think we golfed about 5 holes then called it. We let George have fun instead.

How adorable is that Lil Golfer!

Rainy Day Bathtub Painting

Rainy days can be rough days with a toddler. What in the world do you do to keep them busy?

Bathtub painting for the win over here! I went to the Dollar Tree to buy some baby wash. I mixed 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1/8 cup of baby wash, 3 drops of food coloring and 1 teaspoon of water. Next time I will probably add a little more food color for richer colors.

I grabbed 2 paint brushes, paints, stripped G and headed to the bathtub. I put him in a diaper. We have had too many incidents with poop in the tub to put him in there naked. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do at first. I painted a little on the wall. He got it and had a blast. One of the best thing is after he was done painting I ran a bath and he had a fun bubble bath. The paint washes right off. It didn't stain him at all.

The next day he woke up at 6am. He took me to the bathroom, pointed to the cabinet where I stored the extra paint and pointed to the tub. I told him it was waaaaaay too early to be painting at 6am. Thankfully he is easily distracted with milk and Blue's Clues.

Sushi Date

I have taken some time off work to be at home with George. On our first day home together I decided we needed to do something together for the first time. We went out for sushi for lunch. George hasn't had sushi before, so I thought it was a perfect thing for us to do. Don't worry I didn't feed him raw fish!

It's always a little scary to take a toddler out for a meal. You aren't sure how they will behave while they wait for food or even once the food arrives for that matter. It was the perfect little lunch date! We played with some toys I keep in my purse while we waited for our food. George insisted that the chopsticks were straws. When I opened them he took them to put in the glasses.

He tried to drink out of the chopsticks and was very confused why nothing was coming out. lol

He loved the Miso Soup. I wasn't sure what he would think of the broth, but he kept asking for more.

I ordered chicken teriyaki, steam rice, and a couple pieces of a cooked salmon roll. He tore up that food! It was the perfect amount for the 2 of us. He would eat food right off the chopsticks. Thankfully we had 2 pairs, so I could use the other pair. lol

We will have to go again. He really liked the food. I like to introduce lots of foods to him, so he will be open to eating almost anything. So far the only thing he doesn't like is mushrooms. He will eat them cooked, but wants nothing to do with them raw. He throws them saying no no no.

I am looking forward to our time together. We have lots of adventures planned.
