Disney!

I think I am STILL recovering from our world wind California trip! I was WORN out by the time Tuesday arrived. Here is how our trip actually went down!

Thur - went to Disney. Picked up my Danielle at 12:30am went home slept till 5, got up got ready and out the door by 6am. We drove drove 6 hours to LA. We went to Disney from noon-6pm. Checked into our hotel around 6pm, grabbed some dinner, took an hour nap and headed back to Disney. We stayed at Disney until around 10:30pm. Went to the hotel and crasked.

Fri - went to Hollywood, Rodeo Dr & Sprinkles Cupcakes. On the way home one of Danielle's sister called saying she wanted Sprinkles too. There is a Sprinkles near where I live. We took a detour and headed to Sprinkles to buy more. They are AMAZING!!!! This was my first trip to Sprinkles. I will be heading back. YUMMMMYYYYYY!!!

Sat - went to Jelly Belly factory. Spent the rest of the day laying around. Or tried too. I had a note on my door when we got home from the local police dept saying they had property that belonged to me. I called them & the police officer came out. Art thought he locked my car door. Turns out he didn't. Someone opened the passanger door went through the glove box & center console. Stole my registration & insurance paper binder. They realized they didn't get anything worth money so they set it down on a neighbors car. The neighbor found it & called the police thinking someone stole a car. Police made a report and asked us to keep an eye out. I was freaking out! I told Art that's it let's sell the house. Art tried to call me down saying it could have happened anywhere. Everything is staying locked up like Ft. Knox now!

Sun - went to church, BBQ with the inlaws & then went to visit my uncle

Mon - went to Alcatraz & tour SF.

Tue - woke up around 3:30am to take Danielle to the airport. Went home slept an hour and headed to work.

As soon as we walked into the park we saw Mickey. I have never seen Mickey so much as I did during this trip. We could get pictures with him CONSTANTLY. No long lines. It was craziness.

Sprinkles

If you ever get a chance to go to Sprinkles Cupcakes GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are FABULOUS!!! I experienced my first Sprinkles Cupcake this past weekend and I just finished eating my last one a moment ago. mmmmmmmm More about Sprinkles in a future post!!!! This is just a teaser...lol

Buzz Lightyear!!!!!!!!

What a FABULOUS time I had with Danielle!!! I am exhausted....my jaw hurts from all the laughing....and I am soooo sad she went home today. We traveled about 1,500 miles while she was here! I will give a full report with pictures once I am awake.

Worldwind Vacation

On January 19 my friend Danielle purchased a plane ticket from MI to CA for July 7-13. The day she bought her ticket we started counting down the days until her arrival and making plans. 175 days!!!! We would text each other daily with the count down. When we went into the double digits we called each other screaming!!!! Single digits was a whole day of celebration!!!! Now we are at DAY 1!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow is the day!!!!!!!!! I can't tell you how excited we both are.

We have a JAM packed vacation ahead of us. Here is our itinerary. As you will see sleep is NOT on the list.

Wednesday
Danielle leaves MI and flies to CA
7:00pm - Becky picks up rental car
7:55pm - Danielle Arrives at Airport
8:30pm - Becky picks up Danielle
8:45pm - On the Road to In n Out
9:00pm - On the Road to LA!

Thursday
1:00am - Hopefully arrive at hotel
6:30am - get up and get ready
7:00am - be on the road
10:00am - arrive at Disney
4:00pm - check into hotel & nap
6:00pm - head back to Disney

Friday
Midnight - head to hotel
7:00am - alarm goes off
8:00am - hit the road, stop at Sprinkles Cupcakes, Rodeo Drive, fly past the Hollywood sign
11:00am - hit the road for home
7:00pm - return rental car
8:00pm - pull out SUPER Scrabble

Saturday
Midnight - off to bed
8:00am - wake up, bring me 10 cups of coffee
9:00am - head to Jelly Belly
1:00pm - head home
2:00pm - pull out SUPER Scrabble
The rest of Saturday will be LOTS of games!!! Skip Bo, Dutch Blitz, Scrabble, and whatever else we can find. One of our favorite games we use to LOVE was Life. We were guarnateed a husband. LOL

Sunday
10:00am - Church
2:30pm - BBQ with the in laws
6:30pm - Church
8:00pm - ice cream with the uncle
9:30pm - pull out SUPER Scrabble

Monday
8:00am - leave for San Francisco
9:30am - check in for Alcatraz tickets
10:00-12:00 - visit Alcatraz
12:30pm - eat and head back
2:30pm - pull out SUPER Scrabble

See kids we won't have time for much sleeping. I think we should average about 5 hours a night or naps in between scrabble turns! Pictures and stories to come of our adventures!!!!

Freecycle Lamps

I picked up these 2 lamps the other day from a posting on freecycle.org. Totally free lamps with the price tags still on them. The price tag said $16.09 each.....I got them for $0!!! I plan to recover the lamp shades and use them in our bedroom.

Thrift Store Finds

Here is my weekend Thrift Store Finds! I spent a total of $13.98 - 2 lampshades, 3 trays, old fashion milk bottle, shelf, picture frame, small salad dressing glass container, plaque, and a hangy thing for my wall. I was hoping the lampshades would work on 2 new lamps I got from freecycle. Doesn't seem like they will work. I am sure I will need these brand new black lamp shades eventually.

Famous Swimsuit!

My mom sent me an email to let me know she had mailed a package. I was sooo excited! I LOVE packages. I came home and it was sitting on the table. I opened the box and inside was another box wrapped in spiderman paper. I took it back to the bedroom to open it with Art. Inside I found the adorable "P" napkins, 2 red All American Town Beulah, North Dakota tshirts and this LOVELY ruffled swimsuit. Art and I just busted up laughing!

This swimsuit has become quit famous over the past year or two. My mom mailed this thing to me to see if I wanted it about a yr or two ago. I called her and said have you ever seen me wear something like this? Ummm no thanks. I held on to it why I am not sure. Art had a great idea and wrapped it up for my mom for Christmas. We told her she had to take it back home because it was a gift.

When my parents left at Christmas we found the swimsuit hanging in the closet. I couldn't believe she left the gift her darling son in law gave her for Christmas....it had to be an accident. When we finally got around to mailing the last of the family's Christmas boxes in April we threw the swimsuit in. I received a phone call as soon as the package arrived with my parents laughing.

I think we might have to mail something to Beulah. =)

Tutu's

Remember my post about Samster's Mommy collecting Tutu's? Check it out here. I made 2 tutu's to send to Natasha. They weren't that difficult to make. The one below has little pom poms and googly eyes.

Reshioning Flip Flops

Turn a plain pair of flip flops into FABULOUS flip flops. I took a piece of fabric 40 inches long and ruffled it. I made the ruffle into a flower, hot gluing it as I shaped it. Hot glued a button on the top of the flower and dumped a ton of flitter on top. There you have a pair of 4th of July flip flops. =)

My Fausha!

I have to share a story about my dad aka Fausha. People who don't know my dad might not find this funny, but if you know him you will get this humor.

I called my dad the other night. I was feeling a little blue and needed some laughs. 90% of the time I end up laughing hysterically at him. This night was no different...I laughed so hard I was crying. We were chit chatting and out of the blue my dad says HEY we pulled out the water bed...do you want it? WHAT? You still have the water bed? Now I didn't even know my parents had kept their water bed from the past 15+ yrs. The fact they stored it in the basement during the move to Michigan for 10 yrs. He asked me if I wanted it for our spare room and if so he should ship it to my house. LOL

I do NOT want a 1985 water bed...or any water bed for that matter. Dad informed me it was still in great shape. Thanks Dad but we already have a bed in our spare room. I asked dad why he didn't want to keep the water bed? Dad LOVED the fact the bed had a thermostat and could heat it up past 80. He would turn the heat up so high that my mom swore the water was boiling. There was mom in summer pjs in the middle of a North Dakota winter laying on top of the blankets. You would see my dad covered up with 2-3 quilts with a big smile on his face. LOL

I then start talking to my mom. Dad forgot to mention the best part of the story. The water bed was sitting on the front yard! I was laughing so hard I was crying. Art actually came and shut the bedroom door at this point because he couldn't hear the tv. Dad informed mom he would be keeping EVERY part of the water bed. The wood frame he could use for scrap wood. He also was going to save the liner to cover things up. Leave it up to my dad to use every single piece!

Mom was a little worried the water bed would still be on the front yard for the 4th of July party on Sunday. I received a text message last night stating the water bed has LEFT the front yard.

Dining Room

i made the outside hurricans with glass from the thrift store and dollar store. sand, shells, hurricans all from the dollar store. candle sticks from the thrift store. cost me about $20 total with everything on the table. candle in the middle was pricest item from partylite.

mirror hanging in the middle of the wall is from macy's outlet store. scored that thing for $39 bucks! table is from freecyle.org - FREE! i am planning to paint the table white. it's all starting to come together. if i took a picture of the other side of the room it's FAR from coming together. boxes of home decor.

Kitchen Decor

I hung up some plates in my kitchen. I need to collect some more white plates to hang on a couple other walls. I am loving it so far! I have been buying white plates on clearance or at the thrift store.

I made the chalkboard. I bought the frame and canvas at the thrift store for $3.98. I wasn't sure what I was going to use it for. I already had the chalkboard paint. I am sooo happy with how it turned out. :)

DIY Thread Holder

I have been buying frames when I find a good deal at the thrift store. Art doesn't understand why we need all these frames. I always say this is a good deal I will use it. Well here is one I used. I wanted to make a peg board to hold all my thread in my craft room. I bought the peg board and wooden dowel for about $6 at Lowe's. I picked up the frame below with the lovely painting for $1.98 at the thrift store. Look at my DIY thread holder. I LOVE it!!!! So much easier to find all my thread!

I traced the peg board out using the frame as my pattern, then we cut the peg board with the electric saw. I measured 2 inches along the entire wooden dowel and cut them with the multi-tool. I used the electric sander to smooth all the edges and ends of the dowels.

Finished result!!!

Thrift Store Finds

On Sunday's at one of the thrift stores near us everything is 30% off. I usually only go there on a Sunday. Today we had to drop off 3 boxes of junk and we left carrying 1 box of treasures to the car. Here is what we purchased for $12.00.

Lamp Shade - needs to be recovered

Vase/Planter, Decorative thingy, starter for a BBQ grill, Peace container, 2 large and 2 small curtain rod holders. We have been looking for the curtain rod holders and they are always too expensive. We found the 4 of them for about $6. Buy a can of spray paint and we can paint all these items for $1!

Garden

Little midget man that keeps all our plants safe at night. Amber bought this for Art for Father's Day. He loves this little midget!

Art turned his old grill into a potting table. He has to finish making the boards even and securing them down, but this works great!
