The Generous Wife

This is one of the many blogs I view on a daily/weekly basis. Tonight I read back on the past 3 weeks posts. I needed a refresher course on being a good wifey. I think being a good wife is one of the toughest jobs ever! I feel I have to put more work into my marriage than I do into my every day job. It's really tough on those really bad days when all you want to do is scream. Hormones are really unfair! I wish men could experience one week of horrible hormones.

I try to read The Generous Wife posts at least once a week. The posts are encouraging to keep working on trying to be a better wife.

Napa

Today we went to Napa with Krystal and Eric. It was such a fun relaxing day. Here are a few pictures. Krystal has more she will email me.

Target Deals

I had to return the brown baskets I bought for the coffee table. I posted about them here. When I purchased them I noticed they smelled a little, but figured it would go away in a day or two. NOPE they smelled so bad we put them outside for 2 weeks....still smelled awful. Finally tonight I returned them.

I decided to cruise the back aisles. I got some great deals. They had some of the larger quanity food items on clearance. Double jumbo pack of Jiff peanut butter for $5. I bought one cream and one crunchy. Art likes crunchy and I like cream. Box of Triscuts with 4 bags for $2.98. I love a good deal!

Wordless Wednesday

13 of 30

Today is day 13 of 30. I have made it technically 12 days. Art gave me a free day on Sunday. It helped a lot. I needed a day to rest. I didn't complain or ask for a free day. He wrote it up like a contract. lol I was able to exercise for much longer at a faster pass on Monday. Only 17 more days to go!!!!

Weekend Plans

Yesterday I was on my way home from work thinking I really wanted to go to Napa this coming weekend. My plan was to talk to Art about it when I got home. As I was driving home I got a text from my Nestie BFF letting me know her & her DH were planning a last minute trip to Napa and if we were free. WOW what timing! I am sooo excited. Art and I are going to join them in Napa on Saturday. I can't wait!

Disney here we come!!!!

July 7 can't come fast enough!!!! My friend Danielle is flying out to CA from MI July 7-13. She bought her ticket a couple weeks ago. I have been sooooo excited about her coming to visit. We have been planning all the adventures we are going on during her visit. I have taken the time off work. First we planned to go to San Francisco, Jelly Belly, Sacramento and numerous other places. One day Danielle calls to tell me about Give a Day Get a Date from Disney. She asked how far Disney was from me etc. We found out we could go to Disney for FREE! Well we all know it isn't free after we spend $10.95 on a bottle of water, but our entry would be free.

Danielle bought fleece and made 2 blankets to donate. She dropped the blankets off this weekend. I received my email from Disney letting me know my free ticket is on it's way! Woooo hoooooo!!!! Art told us we are cheating because we didn't volunteer our time. Actually Danielle did volunteer her time making those blankets.

Now our schedule has changed some. Danielle arrives Wednesday night, we will get in a car Thursday morning around 6am and drive to LA. Then we will drive home on Friday. Friday I will show her Rodeo Dr and the Hollywood sign. Danielle is hoping she bumps into that Twilight dude and he is smacked with love at first sight! Then we will be planning a HOLLYWOOD wedding! Saturday we will probably head to Jelly Belly, Sunday we will be resting after church, Monday tour San Francisco and Tuesday she heads home. Oh let's not forget we will have to fit 100 scrabble games in there too!!!! Danielle and I LOVE to play scrabble.....we taunt each other with mean comments for weeks before we see each other. Letting the other know how they will be losing etc. I wish I had some of the voicemails saved from previous years....we left each other some GREAT messages!

I think by the time Tuesday comes we will both be extremely exhausted, but worth all the 100's of wonderful memories we jammed into 5 days.

Fried Chicken

Last night I made fried chicken for dinner. I think this is the first time in about 15+ yrs I have made fried chicken. It turned out ok. It needed more flavoring. My friend Krystal always photographs her dinners, so I thought I would be like Krystal today. :) Krystal always has the best recipes and is a FABULOUS cook!!!! Everything she mades me amazing!

The first time I went to Krystal's house for dinner she made a salad with olive oil and balasmic vinegar. I was nervous about this salad because I seriously don't like vinegar. I have officially given up my ranch dressing and only use oil & vinegar. Everything goes better with a little kosher salt too. I now always use kosher salt when cooking. These are a couple things I have picked up from Chef Krystal!

Check out Krystal's blog for some yummy recipes. I am going to make her cuban pork chops this week. The mojo sauce you put on top compliments the pork chops unbelievable!

Those are homemade mash potatoes. They are NOT instant! I hate instant potatoes! They were super yummy!

February 16, 2006-2010

February 16, 2006 was Art and I first date. Actually it wasn't a date. We were just meeting, going to dinner and going our separate ways. We had been emailing each other for the past 6 months. He was in the country Kosovo with the National Guard. I was a nice American girl who sent him cookies. When he came home he emailed me and wanted to go to dinner. I really wasn't interested. I thought he was a great guy, but I didn't want to have my heart broke again. PLUS I was moving back to Michigan to be with my family in a month.

Four years later and I am still a California girl with a wedding ring on my finger! Tonight we are going to the same restaurant we went to 4 years ago to celebrate! Art planned the evening. Aaawww....even after 4 years he is still romantic!

30 Day Challenge

I made a deal with Art today that if I go to the gym/work out for 30 days straight I can buy the serger below! It's a great deal and another blogger has raved about it. Today is day 2 of the 30 Day Challenge. We went to the gym and they were closing. I was so upset. I went stomping back to the car.

About a year ago or longer we bought the Wii Active. It's still in the box. I watched it one time and that was it. Chelsea Handler mentioned in her latest book how she puts on her exercise clothing and watches the DVD numerous times to make sure she can do it. LOL

I actually did the Wii Active tonight. It was a good work out. My legs are a little sore from the running and lunges. I didn't think it would really work. I figured if I blog about the 30 Day Challenge it might be more motivation to keep me going. No matter what it's a sweet deal....30 days of working out and a serger! To health and crafting!

Pa's Birthday & New Toy

Today we went over to the in laws to celebrate Pa's birthday. Here is him with his birthday cake. He is not a fan of pictures as you can tell.

We went outside to try out Pa's new toy. Pa bought a motor scooter at a yard sale for $10 bucks. The scooter didn't have a seat on it, so he made one. Man after my own heart DIY!!!

Nana and Dora

Armoire

Look at this beauty I found on Craigslist. Yes, I know it isn't a beauty right now. I emailed the guy who was selling it on Sunday to see if he still had it. It was listed for $10. He emailed me back to let me know he still had it. I asked Art and he thought we should wait to buy any furniture until we buy a house. I agreed. The man emailed me last night saying I could have it for FREE if I came to pick it up. Art agreed this time to go pick it up since it was free. I can't wait to paint my beautiful cabinet! I am sooo excited. Probably will be awhile before it's done. The garage is filled up with stuff at the moment. I can't paint it on the deck since it's raining.

Orange Shower Curtain

The above picture is from a nestie bathroom. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this orange shower curtain. Do you think I can find it anywhere...NOPE!!!!! I am not a big fan of orange until I saw this bathroom. Now all I can think about it decorating our bathroom at a "potential" new house in ORANGE!!!!!
When Lacey was little she is use to LOVE orange. She always wanted to wear orange clothes, only drink orange "pop" (soda) and had an orange cat. I dont even think she remembers her orange obsession. I thought about making an orange shower curtain, but I think I would have to make it in panels. PLUS it would cost too much.
Kmart has the below shower curtain however the fabric is peva. I am not sure I am fan of peva. The Kmart shower curtain is only $10 bucks. I would have to order it because there isn't a Kmart close to where I live.
